Nerve repair and reconstruction

Data looking into lingual nerve damage resulting in tongue numbness following wisdom tooth extraction shows an incidence of up to 2%. Of these 60% recover in the first three months, however 0.6% of all wisdom tooth extractions have permanent numbness leading to a detrimental affect on quality of life.

Here at H+NS:L, we use our microsurgical expertise to offer patients lingual nerve exploration and repair with an aim of restoring tongue sensation following injury.

Due to the microsurgical expertise of the team at H+NS:L, in many cases where nerves are required to be resected due to the position of the tumour we are able to reconstruct the nerve and maintain sensation and function after treatment for patients.
